Let us pray.

Choose one of the following Collects.

O God, Who by the merits of our blessed Father Francis dost increase Thy Church with a new offspring: grant, we beseech Thee; that after his pattern we may learn to despise all things earthly, and ever to rejoice in the partaking of Thy Heavenly bounty. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

O Lord Jesus Christ, Who, when the world was waxing cold, to the inflaming of our hearts with the fire of Thy love didst renew in the flesh of our most blessed Father Francis the sacred marks of Thy passion: mercifully grant that by his merits and intercession, we may be enabled ever to bear Thy Cross, and to bring forth fruits worthy of repentance. Who livest and reignest forever and ever. Amen.

O God, Who in many fashions didst shew forth in Thy Confessor our blessed Father Francis the wondrous mysteries of the Cross: grant us, we beseech Thee, ever to follow the pattern of his devotion, and, continually thinking on the same holy Cross, thereby to be defended against all temptations. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

O God, Who didst bestow Blessed Francis on us, for to be our teacher and leader in following the ways of Thy Only-Begotten Son: grant, we beseech Thee, that we who do honor his memory on earth; may one day be partakers of his glory in Heaven. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

O God, Who resisteth the proud, and givest grace unto the humble: grant us, through the intercession of our blessed Father Francis, to decrease in pride, and to increase in that humility which is so pleasing to Thee; that following in his footsteps, we may attain the gifts of Thy grace. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of Trust

O Holy Mary!
I commend my soul and body
unto thy blessed and special trust today
and every day,
and at the hour of my passing hence.

To thee I entrust all my hope and consolation,
all my anguish and miseries,
my life and the end of my life,
that through thy most holy intercession
and thy merits,
all my actions may be
directed and disposed according
to thy will and that of thy Son.

(You can pray this chaplet on the beads of three-and-one, St Michael Chaplet beads, or on your fingers.)

On the medal:
V. O God, come to my assistance.
R. O Lord, make haste to help me.
– Glory be to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.

Before each salutation, recite one Our Father on the individual bead and three Hail Mary’s on the three beads grouped together, in honour of the corresponding Choir of Angels; leave the set of four beads until the end.

At the intercession of St Michael and the heavenly choir of the SERAPHIM, may it please God to make us worthy to receive into our hearts the fire of His perfect charity. Amen.

At the intercession of St Michael and the heavenly choir of the CHERUBIM, may God grant us the grace to abandon the ways of sin and follow the path of Christian perfection. Amen.

At the intercession of St Michael and the heavenly choir of the THRONES, may it please God to infuse into our hearts a true and earnest spirit of humility. Amen.

At the intercession of St Michael and the heavenly choir of DOMINATIONS, may it please God to grant us the grace to have dominion over our senses and to correct our depraved passions. Amen.

At the intercession of St Michael and the heavenly choir of the POWERS, may God vouchsafe to keep our souls from the wiles and temptations of the devil. Amen.

At the intercession of St Michael and the choir of the admirable celestial VIRTUES, may Our Lord keep us from falling into temptation and deliver us from evil. Amen.

At the intercession of St Michael and the heavenly choir of the PRINCIPALITIES, may it please God to fill our hearts with the spirit of true and hearty obedience. Amen.

At the intercession of St Michael and the heavenly choir of ARCHANGELS, may it please God to grant us the gift of perseverance in the Faith and in all good works, that we may thereby be enabled to attain unto the glory of Paradise. Amen.

At the intercession of St Michael and the heavenly choir of holy ANGELS, may God vouchsafe to grant that they may protect us during life, and after death may lead us into the everlasting glory of Heaven. Amen.

Then say the Our Father on each of the four remaining beads: the first in honour of St Michael, the second in honour of St Gabriel, the third in honour of St Raphael, and the fourth in honour of your Guardian Angel. End as follows:

St Michael, glorious Prince, Chief and Champion of the Heavenly Host, guardian of the souls of men, conqueror of the rebel angels, steward of the palace of God under Jesus Christ, our worthy leader, endowed with superhuman excellence and virtue: free us from every ill, who with full confidence have recourse to thee; and by thine incomparable protection, enable us to make progress every day in the faithful service of our God. Amen.

V. Pray for us, most blessed Michael, Prince of the Church of Jesus Christ.
R. That we may be made worthy of His promises.

Let us pray:
Almighty and eternal God, who in thine own marvelous goodness and pity didst, for the common salvation of men, choose the glorious Archangel Michael to be Prince of thy Church, make us worthy, we pray thee, to be delivered by his beneficent protection from all our enemies, that at the hour of our death, none of them may approach to harm us; rather, grant by the same Archangel Michael that we may be introduced into the presence of thy Most High and Divine Majesty. Through the merits of the same Jesus Christ Our Lord.

In the Name of the Father,

Prayer In Discouragement

My Jesus, relieve me of my discouragement.
My devotion has vanished; spiritual thoughts no longer soothe my troubled soul.
Even the remembrances of Your passion and of Your Blessed Mother grow dim before my vision.

O Jesus, do not forsake me. Help me, help me! I am resolved not to omit a single one of my devotions.
Hear me, O my God, strengthen and increase my faith. Keep me from yielding to temptation.
You said, “My yoke is sweet; my burden is light.” Have mercy on me, for wheresoever I turn I see only obstacles and difficulties. Were my faith strong I would accept my trials; but alas, I feel only impatience, doubt and discouragement. My soul, hold fast to Jesus.

How faint-hearted and childish I am! All my comfort, all my joy must come from You.
Bring me closer to You when temptations assail me. Help me not to fail. O Lord, my God, I cast myself entirely into Your Hands. Worn out by the struggle, I will rest beneath Your cross; pray for me in my desolation of soul. Jesus, be merciful to me. Amen.

Prayer for Peaceful Sleeep

As I lay down to sleep, I hold your hand.
Your hand is my comfort and my strength.
Strength to put down my concerns and fears,
Fears that steal peace, are not from you.

You are a loving Father with whom I feel safe.
Safe to rest, to let go and be at peace.
Peace is a gift, from you, and a promise.
Promises are my daily bread, so I will lay down to sleep,
Sleep within you care.Amen
